Are bottles of cleaners cluttering up your cabinets and shelves? Are you annoyed with how frequently you have to shop for household cleaning products? Would you like to simplify your cleaning routine? You can eliminate nearly all of the cleaning products in your home—and still have a clean house. There is an alternative that will save you time, money, and storage space! You’ve probably heard of microfiber cleaning cloths, perhaps you were invited to a party where someone was selling them, maybe you even own one or two. Here’s why you should be using microfiber cloths instead of traditional cleaners—and no, I’m not a rep for a microfiber company, I’m here to help you find ways to simplify your life!
If you are cleaning with chemical based cleaners, you likely have:
Window cleaner
Bathroom cleaner
Tub + Tile cleaner
Countertop spray
Stove top cleaner
All-purpose cleaner
Dusting spray + dusters
Hard surface floor cleaners
Plus paper towels, sponges, and cleaning rags to get the job done.
Before switching to microfiber, it seemed like every time I placed an Amazon order or ran to Target I needed to buy a few cleaning products. The expense was never ending. Let’s say you purchase these common cleaners four times a year, that’s about $225 annually.
Microfiber cloths can replace all of these cleaning products for less than you would spend on one year’s worth of chemical based cleaners. Microfiber will outperform those other cleaners and will last thousands of uses—I’m talking years, I’ve had mine for over three years and they still look and work like new. Ready to learn more?
What is Microfiber?
Microfiber is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, cloth with millions of microscopic fibers. Those fibers are able to pick up dirt, grease, and germs without the aid of soaps and cleaners. You read that right—no need for soaps or cleaners, only water. The fabric of the cloth is not treated with chemicals and can be washed and reused about a thousand times without reducing its dirt and germ fighting abilities. Still feeling skeptical?
Is it Effective?
I’ll just sum up a lot of research I’ve done on the topic—yes! Those microfibers are small enough to pick up, not only dust and grime, but bacteria and viruses, including MRSA and E.Coli, proving to be just as effective as disinfectant cleaners. Go ahead and read that last sentence again!
While microfiber has been around for quite some time, the concept of using it for everyday cleaning and the scientific studies proving its effectiveness are relatively new. Technology is always changing, we are constantly learning new things, think of microfiber as the new tech gadget for cleaning.
Ready to make the switch, but unsure what you need?
Here is what my microfiber collection consists of:
2 Standard Microfiber Cloths: Used for pretty much everything: countertops, stove top, bathroom vanities, and even dusting.
1 Mirror + Glass Cloth: While standard microfiber will work on glass, these are made slightly different to give your glass a streak-free shine.
1 Shower Cleaning Cloth: Made a tad more abrasive making it more effective at tackling hard water and soap scum.
2 Mopping Pads: You could clean your floors with the standard cloths, but you might also need to find a good massage therapist or chiropractor.
I also have a kids microfiber set that is just as effective, but scaled down for small hands. Yeah, I gave my kids a cleaning set as a gift and they loved it. In all honesty, my kids fight over who gets to mop—start ‘em young and enjoy it while it lasts!
Microfiber cleaning cloths have replaced nearly every traditional cleaner in my home. These magic little rags make cleaning a breeze! When using chemical based cleaners, I would set aside an entire day each week to clean my house—no small feat with kids running around. Switching to microfiber gave me the freedom to cancel all future ‘cleaning days.’ When you only have to reach for a damp cloth to tackle virtually any cleaning job, it’s easy to maintain a clean home. No lugging cleaning supplies around the house, no need to constantly buy cleaning products, no storing countless bottles of cleaners, and no exposing my family (or the environment) to harmful chemicals. Grab the microfiber and get the cleaning done.
If you’re ready to simplify your cleaning routine, as you use up household cleaners, replace them with microfiber cloths. This one change will allow you to easily maintain a home that is always sparkling clean.
